Posted On: Friday, March 29, 2019

The cast of Long Live Rock 'N' Roll was amazing! The Clinton County High School Junior Class play was performed for the entire high school student body at 12:30 PM on Thursday, March 28th and again for the public at 6:00 PM. Members of the high school band played selections from Grease at the intermission.  Watch the performance at the link below!

Long Live Rock 'N' Roll

The audience was taken back to those happy days of the Fifties!  Ike was in the White House, Willie Mays was on the ballfield, Ed Sullivan was on the tube, and Rock ‘N’ Roll was everywhere!  Springtime at Gordon Girls Academy brought the Elvis-like Eustice Early and his Early Birds to disrupt the calm with the sounds of Rock ‘N’ Roll!  Rachel Sawyers played Gillian Gordon, the typical 50’s heroine and the kind of girl you’d take home to Mom.  Gillian is the Headmistress of Gordon Girl’s Academy.  Rock ‘N’ Roll singer Eustice Early was played by Camrick Wright.  His back-up group, the Early Birds, were played by Evan Dearborn (Rocco) and Jeremiah Shelton (Weasel).  Rocco is very cool, Weasel is trying.  August Smoot, teacher of “physical culture” at the Academy, was played by Victoria Honeycutt.  Maude Snead, a very old, but very spry faculty member, was played by Makaya Gregory.  King Kenny Kool, the hippest, slickest DJ of them all, was played by none other than Christian Derryberry.  The very rich, very stuffy, and very square Hermione Macklucknee Van Pelt was played by Moriah Moons.  Her downtrodden husband Hughie was played by James Cecil.  Straight from the hills of Tennessee came Eustice’s family – Ma, Thelma Jean, and Calhoun.  Ma was played by Hannah Shelley. Thelma Jean, strong as an ox with a nose like a bloodhound, was played by Jaden Mullins.  Calhoun, the strong, silent type, was played by David Gray.  The terse and deadpan officers were played by Molly Cecil (Sgt. Thursday), Tyler Dyer (Officer Trench), and Harrison Wallace (Officer Harry).  Typical 50’s teenager Corliss and her typical 50’s steady Stretch were played by Tristan Moons and Parker Tallent.  Wilhelmina, terror and fervent follower of that 50’s phenomena, UFOs, was played by Haley Lowhorn.  A group of screaming teenagers followed Eustice and the Early Birds throughout the night, including Ramona the fainter, played by Makenzie Kerney, Cadence Miller & Sunshine Bell (Nancy), Gracie Catron (Connie), Jasmine Brumley (Gloria), and Gracie Shelton & Mattie Honeycutt (Peggy Sue).  Abi Burchett served as Emcee.  The performance was directed by Connie Gregory and Melissa Campbell.
