On Friday, January 29th, AES and CCMS students in the Gifted & Talented Program participated in the History SMARTS Outreach Program. During the sessions, students analyzed images from the Kentucky Historical Society's collection and artifacts from their teaching collection. Students also participated in hands-on activities. First and second grade students made clay marbles in their session on Pioneer Pastimes. Third and fourth grade students did quill writing of bill proposals in their session on Citizenship. Fifth and sixth grade students created leather-bound journals in their session on the Civil War. Seventh and eighth grade students made clay pinch pots in their session on Native Americans.
