Literacy Night at AES

Posted On: Monday, March 7, 2016

There’s no better way to get your mind relaxed and ready to read than a good campsite!  AES wrapped up Read Across America week with Camp Read S’more.  Complete with hotdogs cooked on the griddle and s’mores in the gym, students rotated through reading based stations that encouraged reading in a fun, interactive way.  Lots of students turned out for the event, winning prizes and enjoying time with teachers and staff.  Later, on Friday the two winners from the drawing, Jed Groce, grade 2 and Mackenzee Parrigin, grade 3 enjoyed their time playing on scooters in the gym.  Of course there was something for all students at AES as free bookmarks and pencils were delivered to each on Friday. To close out a fun and successful week, students had their first ever book walk on Friday.  Many prizes were handed out and students enjoyed the fun.

In the words of Dr. Seuss,

Keep Calm and Read On!
