School Starts with STEM!

Posted On: Thursday, September 1, 2016

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math) activities were the method 3rd grade teacher Samantha Blackaby used to encourage her students to get to know each other at the beginning of the new school year.  Students had to work in small groups to save Sam a Gummy Worm that was stranded on a capsized boat (plastic cup)!  Using only two paper clips, students had the challenge of placing a life jacket (Gummy Life Saver) around Sam, so that he would be able to float safely in the water.  Students were not allowed to touch Sam or stab him with paper clips.
