Teaching Sequence with Recipes

Posted On: Monday, October 3, 2016

The students in Mrs. Jona Guffey’s and Mrs. Samantha Blackaby's 3rd grade classes have been discussing the reading skill of sequencing and the importance of following directions.  A simple recipe of Crockpot Apple Pie was made during class and was later sampled by all students and some staff members at AES.  Real world math problems were posed, in which students were required to calculate how much it would cost to make the recipe, as well as learning how to use cooking measurement tools correctly.
