The 5th annual Clinton County Schools Taste Test Sampler was held at Clinton County High School on April 18, 2017, in conjunction with the CCHS Academic Showcase and the Gifted & Talented Art Show. Over 300 people came out to sample potential new menu items for next school year and to vote for their favorites. Thanks to current and incoming Food Services Directors Georgia Rigney and Paulette Brinley, and Food Services Secretary Alice Morrison, as well as the school cafeteria kitchen managers and cooks for the hard work they put into making this event possible. Extra thanks also to School Board Member Jeff Sams for his special interest and help in coordinating this event. The Clinton County Extension Office also had a booth to provide information about nutrition to attendees. Big thanks to the Clinton County Alumni Band for providing awesome music!
And...the results are in! Again this year, the food displays were organized by vendor. The big winner at Core Group table was the Basic American Foods Potato Bar, receiving an 80% favorable vote! In the “Battle of the Biscuits,” The General Mills Pillsbury Easy Split Biscuit edged out the Parsley Marketing Peach Valley Easy Split Biscuit by a slim margin of 5%. Among the Advantage Waypoint items, the Bosco Apple Stuffed Breadstick came out on top with an 81% "liked it" vote! Rich's Donuts with Chocolate Glaze received the most favorable feedback - 95%! Rich’s Donut Holes weren't far behind, with a vote of 93%! The favorite item offered by Michaels & Associates was Cavendish Crispy Crunchy Fries, with 93% of those who tried it voting "yes!" Key Impact had a winner with Tony’s Cheesy Garlic Flatbread Pizza, and the Hot Off the Grill Beef and Cheese Chalupa from Acosta Sales was also a favorite! Kelloggs BBQ PopChips got more votes than the Sour Cream version. Frito Lay’s Funyuns were also voted in as a tasty snack. Among the Recipe offerings, the Breakfast Items were a hit! Most taste-testers LOVED the muffin bars, bagel pizza, and strawberry parfaits. Thanks to everyone who participated!
