The 2019 SkillsUSA Kentucky State Leadership Conference & Skills Championship was held at the Crowne Plaza in Louisville, Kentucky on April 10-13, 2019. Students from the Somerset Community College Cosmetology program at Southern Kentucky Early College & Career Academy competed at the event, bringing home first place in three events! Rosalie Thompson, with model Nakisha Huckaby won 1st place in Esthetics. Skylar Claywell (Cumberland County student) won 1st place in Cosmetology. Sarah Sewell (Cumberland County student) won 1st place in Nail Care. These students will advance to the SkillsUSA national competition in June. Mrs. Joni Upchurch was also named KY Skills Advisor of the Year! Congratulations!
