Posted On: Wednesday, May 1, 2019

Annie Cross, Keonna Thompson, Joelie Hicks, Cydney Sampson, and Adam Garrett successfully completed their Phlebotomy Technician Pathway at the Southern Kentucky Early College & Career Academy by passing the Phlebotomy Technician Certification (CPT) from National Healthcareer Association.   With the CPT certification, these students are set up for success as they continue to reach their career goals in the rewarding healthcare industry.  Hospitals, laboratories, and other employers have an increasing demand for phlebotomists.  Phlebotomy Technician performs some or all of the following tasks:  draw blood from patients and blood donors, evaluate patients’ ability to withstand procedure, explain blood-drawing procedure to patients and answer questions, perform basic point of care testing, such as blood glucose levels, prepare blood, urine and other specimens for testing, verify patient/donor identity, and maintain medical equipment such as needles, test tubes and blood vials.  Phlebotomy Technicians are critical team members at hospitals, diagnostic laboratories and blood donor centers. As advancements in medical technology rise, it’s an especially exciting time to begin a career in this thriving field. Congratulations!

Congratulations to Mrs. Ashley King's Phlebotomy students at SoKY ECCA on completing the Certified Phlebotomy Technician exam with 100% passage rate!
