Groundbreaking Ceremony held for construction of the new Clinton County High School
On Monday, May 11, 2026, community members, students, staff, local officials, and supporters gathered to celebrate a historic milestone for education in Clinton County as groundbreaking ceremonies were held for the new Clinton County High School.
Superintendent Wayne Ackerman opened the ceremony by welcoming invited dignitaries, local officials, guests, faculty, and students. During his remarks, Ackerman thanked the Clinton County Board of Education for their vision, dedication, and commitment to providing a better learning environment for students. He also expressed appreciation to the community for its continued support, noting that when people work together, great things can be created for children and future generations.
Former Clinton County High School principal David Warinner led the group in prayer.
The Clinton County High School Band, under the leadership of Kaylee Welch, entertained guests with musical selections and performed the National Anthem. The Clinton County Drama Department Choir sang “My Old Kentucky Home,” while the Clinton County High School JROTC, under the direction of Melissa Ramsey and Scottie Sloan, presented the colors.
Several distinguished guests addressed the crowd during the ceremony, including Board of Education Chair Leslie Stockton, Mayor James Bray, Circuit Court Clerk Jake Staton, Representative Josh Branscum, Senator Rick Girdler, Kentucky Commissioner of Education Robbie Fletcher, and United States Congressman James Comer. During the ceremony, Representative Comer presented Superintendent Ackerman with a United States flag that had flown over the nation’s Capitol to commemorate the construction of the new high school.
